Staff Spotlight: James Oliver

At ISOK, we’re proud to have passionate educators who bring knowledge, experience, and heart to everything they do. This week, we’re excited to introduce James Oliver, a dedicated science teacher whose journey in education spans over two decades.

A Veteran Educator

James has been working in education for 26 years, and he’s currently in his 5th year at ISOK. He teaches Earth Science, Environmental Science, and Astronomy, inspiring students to explore the wonders of our planet and beyond.

Family First

James is a proud father of 4 children and grandfather to 9 grandchildren3 boys and 6 girls. While he doesn’t have pets of his own, he’s become a favorite among his neighbors’ dogs. Five furry friends regularly visit him for treats and companionship, making his home a lively place.

Adventures & Hobbies

James has a spirit of adventure and a love for travel. He’s been to 7 different countries, stood at the North Pole, and even seen both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in the same day! He’s currently planning a special trip to Paris with his granddaughter—her first time abroad.

When he’s not traveling or teaching, James enjoys woodworking projects and spending quality time with his grandchildren and family. His favorite foods include pizza, tacos, and pretty much anything with ground beef.

Why ISOK?

When asked what he loves most about working at ISOK, James doesn’t hesitate:

“The people!!!! Awesome staff!”

It’s clear that James values the strong sense of community and support at ISOK, and we’re lucky to have him as part of our team.
