Staff Spotlight: Amy Wingard
This week, we are proud to spotlight Amy Wingard, a dedicated educator whose passion, experience, and heart for students have made her an invaluable part of the ISOK community.
A Veteran Educator With a Fresh Perspective
Amy is currently celebrating her 17th year in education—a journey filled with diverse experiences. She spent eight years in the classroom and another eight years in administration, serving students and families from multiple angles.
This year marks an exciting milestone: her first year teaching high school English. Stepping into a new subject and grade level has brought fresh challenges, but also meaningful rewards. Amy has embraced it all with enthusiasm, curiosity, and grace.
First Year at ISOK
Amy joined ISOK this year, making 2025–2026 her inaugural year with us. Even in a short time, she has become a trusted mentor and a steady, positive presence in the lives of her students.
Along with teaching English, Amy serves as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator, ensuring our advanced learners receive the guidance, enrichment, and support they need to thrive.
Family First
Family is at the center of Amy’s world. She has been married to her husband Tony—who also works at ISOK—for 28 years. Together they have:
- Three daughters and one son
- A daughter who is married with two children
- A daughter completing her final year of grad school at the University of Alabama, studying Organismal Biology
- A daughter who followed in Tony’s footsteps and now teaches Music Education at Capps Middle School in Putnam City
- Their youngest, who graduated from ISOK last year and is still exploring his next steps
Life on the Road
Now officially empty nesters, Amy and Tony enjoy traveling in their 5th wheel with their two dogs. With kids living in different states and cities, they now have the freedom to visit them—and check off destinations they’ve always dreamed of seeing.
In her downtime, Amy loves to:
- Read
- Work on diamond art
- Enjoy her favorite food—fajitas
Why She Loves ISOK
For Amy, ISOK provides the perfect balance:
“It allows me to still do the job that I love but have more freedom to also enjoy life.”
Though she was initially nervous about transitioning from elementary to high school, she has been pleasantly surprised by the connections she’s made with her students. After witnessing her own child’s struggles in recent years, she felt inspired to help create an environment where students could rediscover the joy of learning—and ISOK’s mission aligns beautifully with that goal.
We Are Grateful for You, Amy
Amy’s warmth, dedication, and compassion shine in everything she does. Her journey is a reminder of the powerful impact passionate educators make—both inside and outside the classroom.
Thank you, Amy, for all you bring to ISOK. We’re lucky to have you!
