Online School FAQs

Any student in grades 6–12 aged 21 and younger who resides in Oklahoma.

ISOK is a public school, so there is no tuition. We provide Oklahoma-certified teachers and instructional materials. Students and families will be responsible for providing some common household materials (such as printer ink and paper). Our enrollment consultants can help address your technological and computer questions and needs.

Yes. We provide textbooks and instructional materials, which are sent directly to students. These books and materials are dependent on the student’s grade level and the courses they’re enrolled in. Most materials are fully integrated to the online course, so the number of physical items delivered will be few. A loaner computer system is provided to eligible students.

English/language arts, math, science and history are core courses. There are also other courses in the appropriate grade levels such as art, health/PE, music, and world languages. High school students can choose from a variety of electives. Students can also access credit recovery courses.

Middle school and high school programs provide flexible learning environments. Each program includes weekly assignments, scheduled lessons and activities, and assignments with set due dates. Optional and required instructional sessions are scheduled throughout the week to support student learning. Students have the flexibility of creating a schedule that enables them to complete academic work and receive teacher support throughout the day.

ISOK specializes in addressing the needs of students who are struggling. Our credit recovery and remediation program help students get back on track.

As Oklahoma public school students, all students enrolled in ISOK must comply with the state-required minimum number of instructional days.

The school calendar includes school holidays or vacation time. Whenever possible, family vacations should align with school vacation days. Parents are encouraged to contact their student’s teacher if they plan a vacation that does not coordinate with the school calendar. 

We expect that middle school students will spend more than 60% of their time online. In high school, most of the school day is spent on the computer. Students also do hands-on science experiments, read novels, and complete math problems that are done without the computer.

We believe in a balanced approach toward education. Computers help us provide you with effective assessment, planning, and time-management tools. Computers also act as powerful teaching tools that can motivate, stimulate, and inform children about the world around them. They do not, however, replace a solid education. Rather, they help facilitate one. That’s why we use a unique multimedia approach that also includes traditional books, workbooks, and instructional materials.

Students spend time with classmates online and through school outings, field trips, and other activities. In addition to school-based clubs, K12 online national clubs help connect students with like interests and passions.

Each case will be reviewed based on records from your current or former school district. As an Oklahoma public school, ISOK may honor current expulsions from another district. Approval for enrollment will not be granted until the case is reviewed.

Yes. We use the rigorous K12 curriculum, which is well-suited to the needs of academically advanced students. We also offer a robust Gifted and Talented Program.
