ISOK Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Durant
With about 15 years in education, Lynnette Durant brings experience, dedication, and heart to her role at ISOK, where she is now in her sixth year. Certified to teach Math and Business courses, Lynnette has spent much of her time at ISOK helping students succeed through Consumer Math, a course designed to prepare students nearing graduation with real‑world math skills they can use every day.
This year, Lynnette is teaching Algebra 1, a critical foundational math course that sets students up for success in high school mathematics and beyond. She is passionate about helping students build confidence in math while developing skills that will support their academic and career goals.
Lynnette enjoys a full and joyful life outside of school. She and her husband share their home with their two Shih Tzus, Rusty and Penny, and feel truly blessed to live just a few miles away from two of their daughters and five grandsons, allowing for plenty of family time.
When describing herself, Lynnette says she should have been a mermaid. She loves anything involving water—swimming, the ocean, cruises, dolphins, and more. She also enjoys game shows, playing games, going to the movies, and dining out. In her quieter moments, Lynnette enjoys sewing, especially making children’s clothing, a hobby that perfectly blends creativity and care.
Lynnette is proud to be a member of the ISOK team because she understands that brick-and-mortar schools don’t work for everyone. She values ISOK’s mission of providing alternative pathways for students with diverse needs and circumstances and feels honored to be a small part of her students’ success stories as they work toward graduation and their futures.
ISOK is grateful to have Mrs. Durant’s compassion, commitment, and enthusiasm supporting students every day.
