Maggie Lanigan ISOK teacher spotlight

Today, we’re excited to highlight someone whose dedication, heart, and energy brighten our school community every single day—Maggie Canada!

A Passion for Education

Maggie has spent 11 years in education, bringing compassion, structure, and humor to every environment she serves. She joined us at the end of the 2023–2024 school year, making this technically her second year with our team. In her role as a Special Education Case Manager and Math Teacher, she works tirelessly to ensure students are supported, understood, and equipped for success. Her students know they can count on her not only for academic help, but also for guidance, encouragement, and the occasional much-needed laugh.

Proud Mom & Animal Lover

Outside of school, Maggie’s world is full of family and fur. She has three wonderful adult children

  • Madison (22)
  • Sydney (20)
  • Aiden (18)

She also shares her home with three beloved dogs who are very much part of the family: Buddy, Lucy Lu, and Lulu Lee. Maggie’s love for animals runs deep, and if there’s ever a dog nearby, you can bet she’ll be the first to greet it.

Fun Facts About Maggie

Maggie is full of personality, and her interests are just as vibrant as she is:

  • She’s a huge fan of dogs and pretty much any animal.
  • She loves binge-watching both classic sitcoms and gripping modern shows—including Yellowjackets, The Boys, and The Handmaid’s Tale.
  • Her favorite book of all time is Gone with the Wind, and she has a soft spot for classic historical fiction.
  • And one of her favorite music styles is old-school rap from the late ’80s and ’90s. If you ever hear a beat drop in her classroom, now you know why!

Why She Loves What She Does

For Maggie, teaching is more than a career—it’s a calling. She loves being part of a team that has a real, lasting, positive impact on the lives of teens and young adults. Being surrounded by such amazing staff and students, she says, is what makes every day meaningful.

We’re incredibly grateful to have Maggie as part of our school family. Her dedication, humor, and heart make our community stronger, and our students are better for having her in their corner.

Thank you, Maggie, for everything you bring to our campus! 🌟
